Yes, I know weekend updates are on Saturday (in true SNL fashion), but I figured it was about time I gave you a glimpse of where I am in the great quest for Rona. Without further ado, here she is:
One sleeve underway. Not very far. Stop rubbing your hands Marina, remember, it's all downhill from here. Turned out I had more to do on the body than I thought, so I'm a bit behind. With just under two weeks to go I've got a sleeve and a half, plus a button band and collar to finish. I see many coffee fueled late nights in my future, but I'm not giving up.
In the meantime, I admit I took a few minutes hours to seam up a project that inserted itself into my life without my permission, Gunnerside Ladies from the Rowan British Sheep Breeds Collection in their Blue Faced Leicester (who knows if I spelled that correctly).
Addictive yarn, truly addictive. Silky, sheepy, and a joy to work with. I may have to have more in the future.
My only adjustment to the pattern was to knit on size 10 needles throughout, yielding a 40" sweater instead of a 44" one, at least pre-blocking. We'll see where it ends up after I give it a bath, assuming I can ever be persuaded to take it off. It's very, very warm.
I've never thought about knit pajamas before...
LOL - I'm glad to know that I'm not the only one that Marina gives grief. ;) That finished sweater turned out great and does look exceptionally cozy.

Rona looks great.....and that new Rowan line is gorgeous isn't it? I got some of the black welsh for a sweater for the hubby (well, that was the excuse at the time LOL!)

You have plenty of time and you don't even have to knit at Vanessa's or Wendy's speed ... 2 or 3 days for the half sleeve, 4 or 5 for the full sleeve, 1 day for the button & neck bands and you still have time to "clean up".
Just quit looking at Ravelry/Twist/Interweave/etc.

Anmiryam- Where have I been? I am so out of the Rowan loop- the sweater looks fantastic on you- I'd wear it to bed. Why not?

Oh! Everytime I see someone working on Rona, I'm reminded that I have those beautiful colours in my stash! It's so lovely...*sigh*
That sweater is fantastic on you. Yeah, I often wonder how it is that suddenly - boom! - it's a new project! Right in your lap.

Anmiryam! It was great to see you this weekend. I didn't realize your blog had updated over the past week, or I would have commented sooner.
I saw that Rowan pattern book- gorgeous, and the Blue Faced Liecester was heavenly to touch, but the Brown Jacob wool? Euch, I got hives just looking at it! I'm sure your sweater will be the ultimate in pajama styling.
PS: Good luck with finishing Rona, I didn't realize there was that added incentive!
