The following is reprinted from "Wendolene's Woolly Weekly:"
"It's long been whispered among the cognoscenti that our favorite knitting pooch, Gromit, struggles with a WIP addiction. While many guessed at the struggles to keep this burgeoning issue hidden, mostly under the guest room bed, I just heard from a little birdie -- ok, a little sheepie -- that things have reached a crisis state. Is it the paralysis of having no FOs that is keeping our Gromit from blogging? Has shame overtaken the desire to be an active member of the blogsphere?
These boxes and baskets, our informant insures Woolly Weekly, are filled with WIPs in various stages of completion. And, we are told that this isn't everything. Sad isn't it to see a knitter so distracted that WIPs have to be stored like stash?
Gromit, if you're reading, we'd love to hear from you. You are not alone. Many knitters suffer from this problem. Just know that WIP addiction can be overcome."
Just wait until I get my hands on Shaun, that little traitor.
Yeah, I've got a problem with WIPs. I've been up front about it for years. It's a bit worse than usual this summer, but nothing to worry about. And it's not keeping me from posting. Nope. I'm struggling with work and this:
That, and getting ready to go to Maine at the end of the week.
So, just to show that I'm really not ashamed of my WIP situation, I'm going to hold my first ever contest. Whoever comes closest to guessing the number of WIPs I've got will win a fabulous yarn prize -- okay, a hank of hand-dyed sock yarn! I've got a drawer full and the winner can state color preference rather than me selecting something at random.
Just email me your estimate by this Thursday at 8:00pm. If there are multiple correct answers I will either draw a name from a hat or decide to award multiple prizes.
Hint: don't assume Shaun's Hall of Shame is up-to-date!
There is no room for shame or guilt- this just happens to be the way you go about your hobby. We in the land of knitblogging understand where you're coming from.

Hee hee - I have the sense that this will make me feel better about my WIPs/UFOs... Most of which hadn't changed since January when I recently inventoried...
Welcome back!

no shame in WIPs - just don't take them all on vacation with you!

WIP means there is still knitting going on, right? :)

Glad to see you back in blogland! Enjoy your vacation.
Don't worry about the WIPs. It's a sign of a highly developed brain. Okay, maybe I made that up to make myself feel better but it works for me...
