River, thank heavens is done, done, done. It's my first knit along finish since the Rebecca wrap cardi last fall!
Why was this the most boring knit in the history of knitblogging? I've done stockinette sweaters that were more fun.
Maybe it was the yarn, maybe the pattern, maybe the alignment of the planets. Who knows? Who cares?
One down, 6,587,623 projects to go.
Given this kind of backlog, River isn't the only knitting going on here in Gromit land. I'm moving forward on several fronts.
Banded Stripes just needs finishing touches.
Ok, lots of finishing touches. Those little ends at the bottom? I'm guessing that's an entire evening of tv right there.
The neckline came out a tad tight. I'd frog it and redo it, but I can't see anyplace to pick up additional stitches. Hey, it gets over Mart's neck and it looks good. You can bet though that I'll be stretching the heck out of it when I block it.
Truth? My heart isn't in this finishing work. I really want to be working on the corset. I'm past the bust shaping and into the waist patterning. This is fun knitting.
Or, maybe I want to cast on for something new?
We'll just have to see what I feel like doing. Thanks to Dana, I'm channeling my inner Bad Ass Knitter today.
Hey, if you get a sec, go wish Minou's mom a happy birthday. Minou is wonderful, but her mom is amazing -- funny, talented and, as far as I can tell, a complete nut (in a nice way). Here's hoping you have a really loony birthday!
I've been wanting to knit River and have some yarn for it. Why's it so boring? Is it easy boring or annoying boring? Should I look for something else? I have 11 skeins of two colorways of Jade Sapphire Silk Cahsmere that I want to make a striped feather and fan wrap out of-maybe that would be more interesting than a mohair River?!? Any ideas? Jane

But doesn't it feel good to get it off the needles.....you can breathe deeply again.

River may have been boring to knit, but it looks lovely on Em and I assume on you also. For Mart's sweater, good luck on the stretching. It looks great.
Love,
Mother

I, too, found River so boring to knit. Yours is beautiful, though, so you should be proud!
